Practical information
Questions before the question.
Everything practical is handled carefully, so that the days themselves can stay simple.
Do I need wilderness experience?
No. Participants receive preparation and guidance before entering their solo period.
Do I need my own equipment?
No. Equipment can be brought personally or rented through our partners. We provide a detailed equipment list beforehand.
Do I really spend time alone?
Yes. Solitude is one of the essential elements of Nature Quest. The solo period is carefully prepared and facilitated, and forms one part of the programme alongside preparation and return.
Do I have to fast?
Fasting is offered as an invitation, part of the traditional Nature Quest experience, and should only be undertaken when appropriate for the participant. Health, safety and personal circumstances always come first.
Can I bring my phone?
A phone may be carried where required for safety, according to the programme's safety protocol, but it is otherwise switched off and not used during the solo experience. No social media, email, books, entertainment or smartwatches.
Is this a survival programme?
Absolutely not. There is nothing to prove. The objective is not to conquer nature. It is to spend enough time within it to listen.
What happens afterwards?
The group comes back together for reflection and re-entry. Participants can optionally continue with peer reflection after returning home.
Safety and responsibility
Entering wilderness and fasting can involve physical and psychological challenges. All participants receive preparation and clear safety instructions. Participation and fasting depend on individual health and circumstances. Experienced facilitators remain responsible for the overall programme and safety protocols.
